Despite their popularity, pistols are one of the most difficult and unforgiving firearms to use accurately and effectively; lack of a stock, a short sight radius, and long relatively heavy trigger pulls make any mistakes in fundamentals glaringly apparent at any distance past instinctive shooting ranges (7 yards and closer). For this reason, it is critical that new pistol shooters learn how to most effectively employ a pistol from the beginning. Learning correctly from the beginning prevents the accumulation of bad habits and saves training time and ammunition.
